The India Basin Waterfront Park Initiative is an ambitious, multi-million public-private initiative to build a world-class park crucial to the well-being of the city’s underserved southeast communities. Guided by a community-led Equitable Development Plan, the goal of the Initiative is to deliver an iconic 10-acre park designed in deep collaboration with the community that will preserve the culture and identity of this historic neighborhood and improve economic opportunities and environmental health. The park also includes city-wide benefits by addressing environmental issues such as sea level rise and including paths and trails that close a critical gap in the San Francisco Bay Trail and provide vastly improved pedestrian and bicycle connections between the park and Candlestick Park to the south and the city core to the north.
